I have the Deluxe sofetail. and am thing about an ioil cooler for summer. My search engine on this board is not functioning. Anyone with an oil or fan cover please comment on effectiveness and type. Thanks. the tater
Where you live almost requires a oil cooler. You'll find a lot of different opinions on this subject. Mine..........Get one. Get it from 2Orangeharleys.com. Make it the new 10 row airfoil by Jagg with a thermostat base. You will be pleased. My FLSTC went from 230 down to 200 in the Alabama summer. There is some merit to a motorcycle engine needing to get hot, and 200 is ideal for me and mine.
I have just installed the HD Oil Cooler (HD PN26157-07)on my '07 Fat Boy. Easy install, smart looks, andit has a built-in thermostat. However, since it is a brand new install I have not got any temperature data yet. I do know that Florida summers get pretty darn hot! In heavy traffic my Gold Wing and VTX fans seem to be on a lot of the time.
I have read many articles about the oil coolers and their effectiveness, and the opinions seem to besplit about 50-50. Personally...I like them.
