Default Detachable windshield mounting help

Ok, this may seem like a really stupid question but I just mounted a new windshield on my bike and I'm not sure whether the metal wire retainers are supposed to hook on top of the upper mounting post or under it. I can't tell which would hold the shield in place more securely. The wire fits both ways on top and below the post and both positions hold it in place but I'm not sure which is right.

It seems like the top can fairly easily pop off if there was wind coming from behind the shield. I know that's not likely but I don't want to get hit in the face with a shield at 70 mph either...

Thanks, that's what I thought.

Do you have to pull with a lot of pressure forward to pull it off the top mount with the retainers in place? I just got a klock werks shield and the holes don't line up exactly with the mount so the left and right brackets are skewed outwards a little. That puts some pressure forward and makes it pretty easy to pull forward. I'm hoping it doesn't pop off. I guess unless I go past a truck with a lot of wind shear it wouldn't be a concern, but it really seems too easy...
