Thanks for the update on this.
Too many times riders ask for help then never take the time to post what the fix was.

I have the 40-30 mph decel wooble and I've tried all the recommendations other than replace the front tire. I'll be replacing it soon.

Thanks,

Hi guys,
My friend has a 2009 softail deluxe.
We did some mods to it and we found that the bike is not how it should be.
The biggest mod was wheels and tyres, 21" x 3.5" front DNA fat spoke and 18" x 5.5" in the rear.
We replaced rear fender with fat boy to fit the new 200 tyre.
all that is good.
We also upgraded the front end to dual disk brake using roadking lower sliders to fit the calipers.

Everything went on fine, no problems there.

We did find that the steering is very heavy and does not stay straight when riding at slow speed.

You really need to fight it to keep it upright you also feel it when the bike is stopped at a set of lights it just wants to go left or right.
Tyre pressure is fine tyre is fine wheel and balance is good also.
Checked everything is lining up and tight.

I ride a 2010 Lo and my friend always complained that the bike is hard to ride or maneuver at slow speeds.
We all though it was his imagination until I rode it the other day.

I found it very difficult to ride and uncomfortable.
I rode for 10 minutes and my forearms got a work out.

If anyone has experienced a similar problem and has found a solution please share.

I don't have a picture of the bike yet but I will post one ASAP

Thanks in advance guys.

I too have the decel wobble around 30-40 mph. It just started doing that a couple days ago. Dang it! 2006 w/14000 miles. It has ridden straight and true up until now. Did the folks with this problem figure it out?

The wobble is my hint to check the air pressure, more air and the wobble goes bye bye.

Possible issues:
cupped or worn out front tire
front tire out of balance
front tire air pressure
back neck bearing
neck bearing out of adjustment
front wheel bearing
front brake rotor
Great, all the above can cause issue..

I'd also ADD Loose Spokes. Need to check them spring and fall if App and true-ness at every tire change.

That sounds like improper fall away to me.

Thanks everyone! Soooo....a bit of egg on my face here....I checked my air pressures, low in both tires. Corrected that, and my ride is back to normal.

How low were they over recommended air pressure?

They were about 30 to 32, don't remember exactly. I put 38 in each. Speaking of that, is 38 about right?
