I have a power commander and my bike has started to spitter and sputter at low rpms. I am told i need to build a new map for my programmer. So I am thinking about putting a new programmer on it. The three I am trying to decide on is the screaming eagle super tuner, thunder max, or just writing a new map for the commander. Which one should I get? I have a 2007 Softail Custom.
none of the above...get the TTS. The tuner is only as good as the map...and don't believe every thing you read about "auto tuning"
There are other alternatives if you are not looking to upgrade your motor beyond stage one. You can buy a license fee and use your dyno tuners tuner and be dialed in for under 500 bucks. Just depends how picky you are about the way your bike runs
Do you have the PC III or V? Have you talked with the guys at fuel moto yet? I'd send them the mods you have on your bike so they can get a map to you. The map they sent for me on the PC V with my mods is pretty close. No low rpm sputter at all in fact the throttle response is pretty nice. Do that before you buy a whole new tuner.

The PC has nothing to do with "my bike has started to spitter and sputter at low rpms". IF the PC was bad your bike would not run at all.
The sputters are for some other reason. Post more infor about you bike and the conditions and maybe this community can help.
I don't know all the details on my bike because all the work done to it was done before I bought it. I bought it with 1000 miles on it. He told me most of what he had done. It has rinehart cross back racing pipes, air cleaner, 211 cam and the power commander. We have have put new plugs and wires and checked intake and heads for leak. The guy that has always worked on the bike has heard of power commander sometimes developing a clitch in them and need a new flash. I always run 91 octane and try to never put ethanol in it. It doesn't always sputter, but when it does it is usually in first and or second gear when I take off from a stop and when its hot out it does it more often

I haven't heard of any "glitches" either. To figure out which commander you have all you need to do is remove the seat. The power commander should be right next to your battery. Should say right on it if it's a III or a V. Once you figure that out call fuel moto and tell them which system you're ruining along with the cam, intake, and pipes. They can send you a map. Put that on the commands and see how it does. The guys over there can also walk you through making manual adjustments on the map if it is possible on your commander. It could be something else but a map is an easy place to start and change especially with the pcs.
An 07 with a a thousand miles? If it has been sitting awhile there could be issues with bad gas or fouled plugs but it already sounds like you have that covered. If putting a new map doesn't help at all I would investigate elsewhere.
i bought it with 1000 miles on it four years ago. it has about 18k now. I forgot to mention that i was running 111 octane for a while. maybe there is an injector issue?
If you're looking for a new tuner the Power Vision is one of the best out there right now. I've used it on 3 bikes and it's very user friendly and works great. If you buy from Fuel Moto you will get unlimited free tunes and excellent customer support. Good luck!

Yeah if it was running well originally and started developing this I wouldn't suspect the tuner then. If you look around you'll see guys running PCs for years with no problems. I thought it has been running that way since you've had the bike.
If it was the injector, I would think you would see the issue in all gears. Low RPM in lower gears, that is beyond my expertise. It's wierd that it evens out in higher gears and at higher RPM. You sure all your gaskets and seals are good? I'm just a shade tree mechanic so if it were me and the issue was real bad I'd be taking it to my indy-after checking all my seals, gaskets, plugs, fluids.
As far as the 111...I do that every once in awhile to blow the carbon out of my engine. Usually a tank every few months with no problems. I don't know if the compression difference could have caused a leaky gasket somewhere in the head? Maybe some of the other 07 owners can chime in.
