Here is how seems to work for me. Go with apes and you will always wonder about the drag bars. Go with drag bars and everybody's apes will look just great. Go figure.

Apes for me. I have a bad back and a bad shoulder and found drag bars or anything to far below my shoulders uncomfortable. Apes let you sit more upright and relaxed.

I used to put drag bars on everything, UNTIL I got apes once. Now, it is always apes. Look good, feel good, can adjust the lean back and forth for comfort on longer rides. Only advantage to apes, is you can usually do them without having to change out all your cables, just play with riser height to get 'em right.

I meant drags, not apes.

I have had both back to back on my current bike.

I think the apes look better. The drag bars hurt my lower back to ride for any longer than about an hour at a time. However, the apes suck when you are on the freeway and in any sort of headwind. You have to really hold on. I think some 8" apes would be more ideal, but maybe not quite as comfortable, or good looking.

Also, the bike felt like it handled better with the drag bars. The apes make it really feel like a "cruiser".
