I just bought my 08 Heritage Classic 105th Anniversary, and I love it. New to Harley; it's always been my bucket list.
Mine has the stock pipes, and I would like something a little louder, not bark but rumble. I looked into Vance & Hines, and have heard varying opinions as to whether the motor will need dyno-tuning after I change pipes. Harley mechanics even differ; some say yes, some no. I would really like to change the sound (and the look) a little, but I want to be sure up front.
I have a 2013 and I am wondering about the same thing as you. Mine is EFI and would probably need to be re-mapped which I am not too keen on. I was also looking at Screaming Eagle slip-ons but I don't know how harsh the sound is. Like you I prefer a not too loud rumble.
I put the American Custom slipon's on mine, no re-map. I have the mid rumble baffles and in my opinion they sound great. Sounds good going down the highway at cruising speeds but if you crank the throttle she really sounds good. I am we'll pleased with them.
Changing the pipes and A/C doesn't mean U have too, but Ur engine would benefit from at least a down-load or a F/M system.
One of my friends has done Pipes, SE A/C, and SE 255 cams and down-loads only on his last 2 new Ultra's.. He put a little over 50k on his 07 and now has 21K on his 13. He's been happy with the way they both have ran.
Thing is with a down-load is Ur bike will still run EPA lean..
A good F/M system will let U or a Dyno Guy adjust about every thing on U Engine.
