Anybody yet try the Michelin Commander II tires on a Fatboy Lo? They're listed on the Michelin site, but not specifically for the FLSTFB when using the bike search, even though they are provided in the correct sizes... 140/75R17 front and 200/55R17 rear.
I've heard good things about their mileage, ride and wet traction. I've got 8,200 miles on my original Dunlops, which seems a bit short-lived since most travel has not been long super-slab trips.
Anyone with experience with these tires on their FatBoy Lo?
The tires are the same between the Fatboy and the Fatboy Lo, I have them on my '07 Fatboy and love them. Great wet weather traction and they are wearing much better than my stock Dunlops.
Put them on my Fat Boy Lo and they are a superior tire compaired to the stock Dunlops, only got 7000 miles on the Dunlops. I bought mine on Amazon, no problem with size. A hell of a lot cheaper, no shipping and no sales tax.
I have a '13 Fat Boy Lo, got only 5,500 miles from the stock rear Dunlop, and I'm not an aggressive rider. But that seems to be the norm for this tire/bike combo. I have about 2,200 miles on a Commander II and it's a great tire. Based on what I see so far, I should get 9 to 10K from the Michelin. Front is now due and a CII goes on Saturday morning.
Does that front tire feel better than the Lops? I've never felt confident throwing it into a corner with the dunlops, just never feels right to me.
I wish I could give you a fair comparison on that. While the wife took the tires and wheels over to to the dealer I installed a Shotgun shock. I can say that with both I have a better ride and had no problems pushing hard through the corners. I feel that the front tire did feel better then the Stock Dunlop. Just did not seem to want to washout as much as before. I know that I was leaning a bit harder then I used to but that was contributed to having the shotgun shock raised up to it's highest setting and I was not scraping the boards like I did when I was lowered 2". Wish I could give you more insight on the tires. But I feel that the Shotgun shock may also be contributing to the better handling.
I have used Dunlop, Metszler 880 and Commander II on my lo. None have lasted more than 5500 miles. I like the Comm II best. Dunlops flatten out and 880's cup.
