2001 fatboy new rider??
hi all,i a long time rider with japanese bikes currently have a suzi c90,i am working in a remote village and i found a 2001 fatboy that needs a bit of work,it was running last year and the guy says it wouldnt start so he burned out the starter trying to start it,the speedo glass is broken and one fork tube is bent a bit,fair amount of scratches on it,i must add the village i am working in isnt made for streetbikes at all,theres only 2 paved roads here,im not sure why this guy brought it up here,u can only fly into here,anyway long story short i can pick up the bike for pretty cheap and the company i work for has a good rate to ship items on the plane,i can get it shipped to my home town for about 2k.my question is is there anything i should look for on this bike,i cant start it and since its not my home town i have limited resourses here,i can get it for less than 2k so close to 4k for bike and shipped to my house,is there any major probs with this year of bike or any tips or sugestions.ive been reading on here for a few days and looks like a great forum with lots of info for a newbie like me,thanx in advance

I pd about $7500 for 03 Softail Standard in march 16k miles running strong. 4k shipped, condition unknown sounds like a crap shoot . title? if needs motor used one's over here are about $2500. I would walk away. Buddy of mine bought a "almost new " Ducati from bankrupt dealer "no run" brought it home. All parts and internal electronics had been removed. time he was done had more than new money in it. Just saying .Cheap is not good sometimes.
