Default Breakout Seat Mounting Bolts/Nuts

So after chatting with 24v today at the Car and Bike show about those damned aluminum nuts that hold the solo seat down I decided to take it apart and see how to alleviate the pain in the ***, pun intended, that those damned aluminum nuts cause when you're riding solo without the back seat on. Here are pics of the mounting assembly removed:

Tomorrow I'm headed to Ace Hardware to fab me up a new method of mounting the seat to where I'm not sitting on the aluminum mounting hardware anymore but can still remove my seat without having speciality tools.

Wish me luck!

EDIT: Just back from Ace Hardware, surprisingly after being there for 30-45 mins going through every bin I came back with two bags of stuff only to find out none of it was ideal as a replacement method for the aluminum nuts that hold down the seat. Instead, I ended up having some old Toyota Tacoma engine bay plastic plugs that fit the bill perfectly that also look pretty nice (stock OEM look).

Hope this helps some of you out - enjoy the pics and the video.

What seat are you running? It must be pretty thin near the rear if you're anywhere near the those mounting nuts. You can always get a different seat like my Lepera that mounts using the next hole behind the two you're using now.

So far no one makes a solo seat that fits the Breakout (other than that ugly 2 up Corbin).

I have not seen any confirmation that the sport style 2-ups will mount either, but maybe they do?

I think every Breakout owner has been looking

Curious to see what you come up with, I too would like to stop sitting on the aluminum. The other day I hit a decent pothole and boy did my *** hurt for a while.

The Breakout does not have that hole in the fender that you use for your seat. Only the two in the front, and one hole at the very rear for the back of a 2up seat. That is why we are all stuck trying to figure out other ideas.

On a stock height bike you could just use through bolts. You should be able to squeeze your hand up in there. I would use nuts that have a shoulder on them so you could put them on under there with a box end wrench. Then just use some very short button head stainless allan bolts.

The issue could be for Harley Charley and I, as well as any others who have air ride. If by chance your bike was lowered without air, and the battery died, you would have a hell of a time trying to get your hand in there to hold the nuts while removing the through bolts.

I have mine lowered 1.5" with the Progressive kit. While the issue isn't the same it would still be a PITA.
