At an event and spent the better part of the day idling, riding at low speeds, and starting and stopping the bike (99 Fatboy). After about 4 hours the battery died. Someone told me the battery wouldn't be charging at low speeds (less than 2000 RPM’s) and was not surprised the battery died.
If you upgrade, look for the lightening start batteries. Mine is FIVE HUNDRED CCA!!! Plus a 5-second reserve, and cost was only around $100
Got a HF tender for under $10 and works fine.
I never had that problem and I have been known to do a lot of short runs now and then. My original battery was in my deluxe seven years and I changed it just because. I gave it to a friend and he ran it at least a year trick is to tender the battery. Do not let the battery die every time that battery goes dead and you charge it you are shortening the life of it. I still believe harley batteries are one of the best and I would stick with a harley battery
