Default Bottoming Out

After last years rebuild on my deuce and riding all through the summer here, colder weather is here and my bike needs a couple of jobs doing so i have made a start. My main problem is after installing the shotgun shock, because i like to ride it as slammed as possible it bottoms out and the swing arm is hitting and damaging my Heartland fender struts. After removing the rear wheel and splash guard and letting my shock hang i can now see what exactly is happening. There is a chrome after market swing arm fitted in the bike, this was already done when i got the bike to obviously accommodate the 200 tyre and offset kit. Well there are no bump stops the swing arm just travels until it hits the fender struts causing a terrible noise when it bottoms out.
Not seeing the original swing arm i cannot tell where the bump stops should be? I've added a small video to show you whats going on and if any one has any ideas please let me know. I don't want to ride round with the **** end in the air to avoid bottoming out.

The bump stop is a thick rubber bumper that should be attached to the bike frame (not the swingarm) at the point where the top horizontal part of the swingarm makes contact...

Well there is defiantly no thick rubber attached to the frame, without being able to see what it should look like from the factory i cannot tell if its just missing or its been removed to accommodate the after market swing arm.

After further inspection i've found the bump stop figure 11 in the photo. My Problem seems to be a combination of the Heartland fender struts and a after market swing arm. The swing arm seems to just brush the bump stop and no more when hitting the fender struts.
So packing out the bump stop should do the trick

Job done! Took the fender struts off and machined them out with a dremel, now the swing arm bottoms out on the bump stop instead of the struts.

Our Indy who is a 55yr Harley Wrench told me the main reason a Softey wont ride quite as good as the Touring bikes is. NOT enough shock travel.

When U add the Shotguns U get 4-5'' of travel, but if U then ride her slammed and only have 1-2'' of travel and bottom out then wouldn't that kind of defeat the whole purpose of installing them in the first place and back to what our INDY said, Not enough Travel. just asking..
