Default Softail deluxe Pro Pipe install.

I've got my Vance & Hines Pro Pipe in place on my Softail Deluxe ready to mount on to the exhaust port but I can't seem to get the exhaust flange to seat far enough over the exhaust studs to get the nut to thread. Tried tapping on the flange using a small tack hammer and a wood dowel with no luck. Anybody else experienced the same or similar issue..... Tips ?

make sure all the hardware is loose so you can move the pipe around. 2 into 1 pipes are a pain sometimes since the 2 head pipes are 1pc. Sounds like they are not seated all the way in the head and you need a little more wiggle to seat them.

Are you using a performance gasket? Stock HD gaskets are sometimes too think to get the flange on there.

Yeah, if you're using the stock gaskets with aftermarket pipes, gasket thickness can be an issue. Try using the Screamin Eagle gaskets, they're shorter than the stock ones to help accommodate aftermarket pipes and run about $8-10/set. One of the only cheap parts from the dealership...

Don't use the Screamin Eagle Gaskets, you'll have more issues. There is no reason the stock gaskets won't work. There are tens of thousands of bikes out there with after market pipes and stock gaskets...

Just make sure all the mounting hardware is loose and you'll catch the right angle to get them pushed in.

Loosen up all hardware, I have a pro pipe on my slim. You dont have it seated right. I have stock hd gaskets fits nice and snug. Also dont over tighen flange nuts. Move head pipes up and down to get flange nuts snug finger tight and then a few turns tight with wrench is enough to not distort gasket.
