Just a passing thought.......if there are pin holes in the gas line inside the tank, your bike might run great until the amount of gas in your tank goes below the pin holes. Hope this isn't the case, but something to keep in mind while going on a longer ride. Maybe try to stay fairly close to home just in case.
I'm not sure what the inside of the tank on these newer bikes are like (my last was a '73) but I had a little more than 1/4 given that the gas gauge is accuarate. Well, I'd rather have this stuff go wrong while under my extended waranty! Hope it's not the case thogh.
Glad it was nothing major! Had the pinholes in my lines at the beginning of this season. The lines that are in the tank rub the inside of the tank and develop small holes over time. Mine is an 05 train as well, so that might be the culprit. If so, not a hard job, worst part is getting the fuel pump assembly out of the tank. New lines and filter will run $100 or so, and don't forget to replace the hose leading to the quick disconnect, it doesn't come in the fuel filter and line kit. And pick up some extra crimp-on hose clamps, chances are you'll bugger one up.
Pin holes will not show until your gas level is below the holes. No question about it, it is the high pressure line in the take. It has a pin hole in it. It happens to more than most bikes of this age. I did mine last year. Simple job, bought my gates hose on Ebay and did it in about 40 minutes and less than a full beer.
Here's the update as promised.
Shop called today after giving them all the info the other day. They did find pin holes in the hoses in the tank and also a faulty check valve. Warranty covered!
Hopefully case closed!
Thanks again for all of the feed back.
