Just had this done on my bike... the Harley dealer wanted 4 1/2 hours @ $85/hr. A local independent custom bike builder did it for me and charged me 3 1/2 hours @ $48/hr. BIG difference!!! Looks great!
I can't remember how much I was charged but I know I was given a discount since the front end was done prior to me taking delivery. I don't think 4-4.5 hours is outrageous.
If I supplied the front end kit, 4.0 hours is what my local HD Service Department wanted...but if I boughtthe parts from themI couldget a break on the labor(we all know who would come out in front on that deal...).I ended up doing the projectmyself. Made a simple mistake, or two...but now I am the resident expert on chrome front ends! It is not real difficult and a great way to get to know your Harley! If your Service Department will let you supply the kit, get it from Zanotti!
The difference in looks is HUGE! Well worth the $$$!
What about trying to install it yourself and saving the funds for more upgrades It isn't a difficult job, just sounds scary when reading about taking the entire front end off. Grab some beer and a helping hand and have a blast. Here is a great start:
