A good friend of mine is thinking about buying a used 1998 Custom Fat Boy. A tech that works at a Harley shop wanted to build a Custom Fat Boy instead of buying the standard Fat Boy and pulling every thing off and changing it to chrome the way that plenty of us do.
This bike is a 1998 and has 22,000 miles on it. The price of the bike is $10,000. It is in immaculate condition. Take a look at the pictures and let me know what you think.
Heard that story plenty of times.
What kind of frame? How is it titled?
If it is not a Harley frame, sorry... it isn't a Harley, period. It isn't a Fatboy.
Could be a totaled bike that was repaired from eBay take off parts with aftermarket frame. That is the reason for the cheap price.
It does have an after market frame. I did hear that. He said that he was told something about Harley would not seel him a frame at the time for some reason or another.
No offense, just looks like a normal fatboy to me. Seems like a lot of trouble to go through to have a "custom" bike that looks like thousands of other factory made bikes. I'm not saying this is not the case, it just seems like a lot of trouble to me, that's all.
What parts on the bike make it "custom" i.e. bigger engine, baker tranny, wider rear tire, etc.
Troubles is, anytime you will need a part or have it worked on, you or whoever is working on it,won't know what part to get or wherethe broken partcame from.
Unless you're a mechanic I'd stay clear.
