I wouldn't say either is better quality than the other, just that one costs less because there is less to it. The Softail suspension uses the shocks backwards compared to most other suspensions. When the fender is the highest from the ground, the shock is compressed. So the bolts go on the end of the shock and make it longer. This way, when it is fully compressed, it is slightly longer. This makes the bike stop at a lower point as opposed to allowing the fender to go higher. The collars do the same thing, just a different way.

Hey guys,

Here is a link to the lowering kit that you mentioned on our site:

http://www.deadcreekcycles.com/No-Sh...Kit_p_704.html

There are some pictures and more details about the kit. The best part about this kit is that you don't have to remove your shocks to install it, and then press out the existing shock hardware like you do with the lowering bolts, which can be difficult for people who are not mechanically inclined.

This kit is super easy to install and lets you choose from either 1.5" lower or 2" lower and you can switch between either very easily. If you have any questions, feel free to pm me through the forum or contact us through our website. We're always available for tech support also if you run into any install questions.

EagleRay, like you I want to do air ride(Shotgun for me). But I couldn't wait to save up to get the desired lowering. I opted to go with progressive 422 in the mean time. Not as cheap as bolts or collars but I think the ride quality is better than both those options. Good luck!

Do they come with a comprehensible installation instruction?

Yeah! You're probably right in terms of riding comfort. If it only wasn't $500 well knowing that I will switch to air suspension only 9 months later...

Harley_Charley,

Sorry for the late response. Here are a couple side shots. Let me know if you would like any others. I have them tilted up slightly for clearance on the blinkers. There is room to have them totally flat, though.

So when I first got my Breakout, I wasn't a member of this Forum yet. I did a post on modifying the stock B.O. mufflers to give it a better "Harley Sound."

I haven't had time to re-write the post over here yet, so I'll post a link, if thats "legal"....If not, the admin can delete this, but please don't ban me from here! ;-)

EDIT: UPDATED LINK

I would copy/paste everything into a new thread here. We cannot see the pictures on that forum unless we register.
