Default FXSB Breakout ... mods in progress

Good day to you all. This is my first post on this forum (on any HD forum worldwide, actually). I beg your pardon if my technical language won’t be perfect and forgive the enthusiasm of the beginner.
I’m a recent HD owner, I bought my first Harley last June, a second hand 2010 FXDB Street Bob, sold a few months later to buy a brand new FXSB Breakout. I consider myself an apprentice of the HD world and since I still have so much to learn I’d really appreciate your observations and point of view. Don’t worry, I won’t get offended.
BO is a nice bike but some parts and details are not at the same level of the rest of the bike. One above all, the dash/console. I was even thinking of replacing the dash with the CVO one. Being a new bike there are only few dedicated accessories for it. I hope in the future HD would add on the catalog something new. There are so many new parts I’d like to see on the catalog (a chrome version of the stock handlebar, a chrome cover of the “hand grenade” of the IGN switching, kit chrome fork sliders, dedicated chrome engine/trans interface, chrome forward control brackets, chrome dash, chrome swingarm, etc…). These are only some personal ideas just to talk a little bit. The parts choice on the market is definitely wider on the dark look than on the chrome one. But I’ve never chosen the easy way and refuse to homologate.
Probably I have an “old school” mind setting but on Harley Davidson bikes I prefer chrome and vivid paint rather than denim paint and a dark custom look. The final result I hope to obtain on my BO would be half way between the normal Breakout model and the CVO version with a personal touch.
As you can easily notice, I started immediately with some mods, all oriented on “chrome theme” and OEM HD parts. I’m still waiting for chrome front turn signal indicators.
For the moment I’ve mounted Screamin’ Eagle Air cleaner Stage I (missing chrome back plate), SE Tuner and SE mufflers (missing SE mufflers heat shields). To be honest I’d have avoided SE mufflers (sound is not so bad but the look doesn’t satisfy me completely) but the exhaust I like the most, Vance & Hines Big Shots Staggered, isn’t available for BO yet. I hope V&H will implement this exhaust with proper fitting for BO soon.
For the next “steps” I’m planning to add some CVO parts such as Turbine wheels and billet sprocket, chrome oil tank and fork sliders (maybe the dash too). I’d also mount a chrome inner primary cover and left cylinder base cover to complete the left side of the engine. Diamondback cables, chrome front and rear calipers (I already have them from my Street Bob) and chrome rear master cylinder. It’ll take some time and money but I think (and hope) the final result would match my expectations.

Hi Francesco and welcome to the forum.

Lucky you! You've already got your '14 Breakout. Mine is to be delivered in Feb and Ready-2-Ride in March. Like yours mine will be Vivid Black and me too I like the balance between black and chrome.

Same opinion about some parts looking rather cheap (dash, footpegs, grips etc.) compared to the rest of the bike. But I think that's just what's intended by the MoCo. Otherwise you wouldn't put any more money in. I too got quite inspired by looking at what some of the others did to their scoots.

What I like about your bike is the bullet headlight. Is it an OEM part and if so did you need an additional mounting kit? What's the P/N for the light? There's one on my wish list already and I would like to know if it's the same you used.

Hi EagleRay! I waited for 2 months to have the BO too....but it's worth having patience!
Headlight is OEM part number 68593-06. I bought it in US from a very kind guy via ebay. It had already mounting kit on it, could be p.n. 68595-06. I also bought OEM billet headlight p.n. 67704-03, similar to the bullet but without visor shaped shell, both 5 3/4...just in case I decide to mount Daymaker led headlight!
They fit good both, believe me.

Hi Francesco!

Thanks for your reply! That's exactly the Bullet Headlight on my wish list. Thanks to your pics I now know what it would look like. I think there are actually two different mounting kits available. One with a short "arm" #68595-06 and one with a longer "arm" #69611-06.

Which one was on your headlight, the shorter one? On the pics it rather looks like 69611-06.
