Default Dipstick blues

Anyone have this ever happen? Got a 2010 Softail Deluxe with 26k and change on it. Today after the washing I started it up to dry the inner mufflers and the oil dipstick flew out of the oil bag like a bullet! I retrieved it, wiped it off and put it back in while rotating it a bit to get the best fit. Damn HD flawed engineering! It's never happened before today. I do notice though, when I check the oil and replace the dipstick, I always get some seepage down the oil bag that needs to be wiped of once in awhile. Don't know if there is any recall on these dipsticks or if there is replacement rubber to be had.

First of all, and most importantly dennyo, I love your Avatar! I'll try and do the video thing. That was the first time it ever happened. Gonna go see my Indy today and tell him about it. Then I'll call the stealership and get the patented disclaimer from them that one has come to expect. They'll probably try and sell me a 2014 Deluxe and tell me that the same issue will never come up again!

Has there been a recent oil change and possible overfilled?

In all my years of riding I have heard this from a few guys over the years but it's never happened to me personally. I will tell you that my Tru-Value or ACE store sells all kind of crap as we all know. I get and use their rubber O-rings before I use stock anymore, for anything.

I have heard of this before and it's usually due to overfilled oil.
