I have recently ordered a set of SE Shotguns for my 2012 Fatboy. Harleys website said that the ECM does not need to be re-mapped or programmed with the addition of these slip-on mufflers. If I install a K&N filter or a SE type filter will I need to have the ECM re-mapped????
From what I have been reading there seems to be contradicting information, that the bike should still be fine with the SE upgrades.
Thanks for the help.
personally. read again personally. if you've spent how many thousands of dollars on purchasing your bike and are spending how many more hundreds of dollars on upgrading the intake and exhaust. what is a couple hundred more dollars gonna make to have some kind of tuner done or added so it runs at it's optimum performance? i'm not saying you have to do it for one or the other but both might justify it.
I'd throw some Xied's on there and call it dun unless you plan on future upgrades then a flash tuner would be more appropriate. Just don't waste any money on a dealer download.
ditto on avoiding the dealer download. Contrary to what others said my bike didnt run properly when I just changed my exhaust, did fine until about 70 mph in 5th then would act like it was starving for fuel. I added a ac and Xied's and it cured the problem. I do get some decell popping if I come off the throttle fast when compression braking

I like the sound of decel popping, but keep a close eye out for the cops.

After the slip-ons eventually I will get an air-cleaner on it, most likely a screamin eagle. Which from what I understand this is reffered to as a stage I kit or upgrade. I doubt I will do anything past that.
I want to keep my bike as reliable as I possibly can. Would like for it to have a little more umph and a better sound. That should be well enough for me.
If I had wanted a really fast bike..................well, you know.
