The older SE muffs are as loud as my 2'' Rush's (06 and earlier I think).
The new SE's I believe came out in 07 are only 2-3 Db's louder than stock, which is barely any diff.
I don't think the new SE's have removable baffles, but you can drill out or punch out the plates in them..
I've never heard a set of altered stock pipes that didn't sound like crap to me.
Loss of back pressure by punching them out usually mean a loss of low end HP and TQ.
Do a search on how to drill out the stock baffles, use Goggle and you'll find hundreds of links that have will show and tell you by those who has done it.
I would think you could run the pipes without the end caps as they are probably cosmetic, but can't say for sure. The SE IIs I had were baloney cut and 1 piece. You can take the baffles out of the new SE pipes, even cut them in half, reinstall and make them loud, but they sound like crap as noted by oct1949...trust me on that one. You aren't gonna have to mess with the baffles on the pipes you have. I am looking forward to hearing how they bolt up and the crossover works out.
