which windshield is the best as far as handling buffeting and wind coming underneath it. the standard Harley or the nostalgic. like the looks of the nostalgic, but seems most people have the other one. need one for a 06 deluxe.
Last year I got a windshield from Klock Werks. I think it was called the Billboard Flare. It's a little wider than the HD one, and I think it suits it better.
i have the nostalgic one 21inch detachable, i like it looks more than the others on the deluxe , it saved my face lots of times from the debris, and when its clean sometimes people don't notice that i have a windshield installed
As far as the wind coming up from underneath it, get ya a set of windshield lowers. When I had my 03 RoadStar I got a set of them that was for a Harley, they were chrome and cheaper than the Yamaha plastic ones. They work great! I have yet to get a set for my heritage yet, but it's gonna happen....
I have the Nostalgia 21" clear shield. Buffeting from air coming from underneath the shield does not seem excessive to me, not enough to purchase a set of "fangs" for it.
With the standard windshield and "fangs", I had minimal buffering on my Heritage.
I just added a Klock Werks windshield a few weeks ago. The person I purchased it from had it on a Deluxe along with fangs and stated there they had absolutely no buffering and it increased stability at highway speeds.
Since I put the Klock Werks shield on I've only been on a <30 minute ride so I can't truly render an opinion on it yet.
I have 2 different and brand new detachable windshields for my bike that have NEVER been on my bike other than when installed. They just ugly my bike up SO bad. I guess I might use one when I retire and take off for a few months but other than that I can't offer first hand experience. Maybe if I follow this thread I will see or read something that might change that outlook but until then, ugly, ugly, ugly!
