I'm 5'10" and the 16's were just to tall for me. They had not been installed yet so Carlini let me exchange them for the 14" which I LOVE and will never ride without apes again. I also ran everything internally through the bars, what a clean look that gives too! That is a little more coin though but I knew if I was going to get apes that was the only route I would go. I think you are really going to like them once done. I'm an old fart and they cured a few aches and pains I was starting to get when riding. I now ride pain free. Good luck and pics when done would be cool.
I just installed a set of apes with the Burly Kit and found that I needed or wished I had a couple of things after I started...
Side Cover Gasket (Drain the Trans before you remove Side Cover)
Transmission Fluid
Zip ties
LockTite (Red for the Riser Bolts)
Tubing for bleeding brakes (Get a buddy as well)
Wheel chock (Recommended for long term work)
Brake line gaskets. The Burly Kit ones are not correct.
When installing the clutch cable, put it on the hand lever before you install on the transmission.
