I need a bag to throw my laptop in for travelling to work- Has anyone tried one of these types of bags with a Breakout? Also- since I don't have my bike with me at the moment, does anyone know the width of the stock passenger seat at the widest part (up front).
I'm giving serious consideration to this low-profile bag for laptop transportation and quick detach:

I too don't have my Breakout here today, but i can assure you that the passenger seat is definitely narrower than the 9" max that the tunnel bag can work with. I think the passenger seta is closer to 6" in width!! (My wife is not impressed with it, but says she wants to try it before buying a different seat)
However, I wonder if that tunnel bag might not abrade your fender paint, especially if you get a heavy item in it someday.
Finally, if your laptop has a physical hard disk versus solid state storage, I think the vibration on a Breakout could take its toll on that hard disk. remember, the vibration on a Breakout far exceeds that felt in a car, and yet the computer makers all tell you that if you want to go mobile, you'd better have solid state storage. many of the Mac notebooks now come that away, but in the PC world, I don't know that that is the case.

The abrasions to the paint are definitely a concern. I'm just trying to find something that is easy on/easy off, and doesn't look like a giant luggage bag- and I really don't want to ride with a back pack on as I don't like the way it restricts my movement.
I do have a SSD hard drive, so I'm good there- and either way, It would just make my case for getting a new laptop quicker from the office- There's no way I'm going to let it stop me from riding to work on nice days.
Anyone else transporting a laptop in anything else? I like the Kuryakyn Grantour bag, but again, looking for something not quite so large.

Does the tunnel bag come with a raincover? If not, rain would kill the laptop. I had my iphone in my jacket pocket one day and got caught in a freak 5 minute rainstorm. It totaled the iPhone.
FINALLY got the storage tube in that jamiedtr suggested. i guess they are discontinuing them, but i managed to get one of the last ones left. its perfect... just big enough to throw all the crap i need into it (remote, spare glasses, etc)
you need a good backpack then. Strap it up tight on your shoulders and you'll forget you have it on. I have an oakley kitchen sink backpack and that is the best money can buy.

get you a Lifeproof case. you'll never have to worry about it again. (depending on which version of iphone)
ok... so i bought one of the last storage tubes from la choppers. all they had left was fluted, which i wasnt crazy about. once i got it, i took it over for sandblasting and then powder coating. came out pretty damn good!
