More than likely the threads are stretched from you bending the wrench.

How much should I worry about belt adjustment? Since the swingarm pivots, the belt tightens an loosens depending on where the swingarm sits, so will I have to worry about the belt being too loose when I dump it?

I just adjust my belt for the ride height I spend the most time at.

I don't think your belt is going to tighten or loosen significantly just by changing heights. The swing-arm rotates up and down, not in and out...

It actually does, try it. It is not a huge amount, but there is definitely a noticeable difference.

No washers on the shoulder bolts, and both washers on the front side of the front bolts.

Also, jack the bike up, wedge a wrench against the ground, then slowly lower the bike to break loose the rear bolts.

It does rotate, and since it starts at close to a line that's parallel with the rest of the bike when stock, riding it at stock height or lower rotates it upwards. Since the pivot point for the rotation isn't on the point where the opposite end of the belt connects to (the primary drive pulley), the distance from the rear pulley decreases as the swingarm pivots up.

Being as how this is the first HD I've modded and all my other bikes have been chain driven, I'm not too familiar with belts. I know that if the chain tension was off by a little bit, you could feel drive line lash in the chain when accelerating. From what I've heard of people losing teeth to improperly adjusted belts or rocks in the pulleys, I'd want to make sure that it's not going to do anything bad from the difference in slack due to raising or lowering the bike. But there's enough people with adjustable suspension on their Softails to give advice on that.
