Default Best shocks for improved comfort and handling?

Hey guys,

There's not much info out there for people wanting to improve the comfort, handling and performance of their softail shocks.

Plenty of info on lowering, but I'm not interested in that. I'm not interested in any of the air-shocks either (shotgun, legends, SAS etc).

Anyone help me out with some recommendations for better softail shocks? I had a set of Works performance shocks a few years ago and they were good. Just wondering what else is out there.
Bike is a 2014 Heritage.

Thanks.

Default Progressive

I just put 422HD w RAP and monotubes on the front. I ride 2 up about 50% and have really noticed a difference. 2012 heritage. Much more comfortable with two but dialed back I get a great ride solo..Feels much more planted over expansion joints and rough pavement, really comfortable in curves. No bounce or brake dive.

Thanks. I should have added that I am not a heavy guy and ride solo. I'm not sure progressive 422's in this case are going to be any better than stock.

Have you tried adjusting your stock shocks?

Racetech sells custom built softail shocks for $700. A bit pricey but Racetech makes good suspension components.

422's are definitely better then stock. You have concerns given your weight. They have a standard shock and heavy duty for heavier riders. Call them about your weight requirements.

Ricor Intimidators in front suspension work very well.

Hi, yes I did have a look at the racetech softail shocks.... I couldn't find a single review on them or what kind of special internals the shocks have that make them worth $700.

anyone have any experience with the racetech shocks?

Doesn't Works sell just springs ? I know someone does. I know your not interested in air but you will not get a better ride w!with any kind of spring shock. several guys on here with the shotgun set up that you might live near that might let you try theirs out, just a thought.

And the Shotgun is not like air ride on a car (at least the systems I know of), where you don't have adjustment of how stiff/soft the ride is at all heights. You can adjust that separately from the height.
