Default Opinions are welcome..

I am normally pretty good when it comes to making decisions on my bike, but this time I am stumped.

I added the DK Custom coil and horn relocation hit to my Softail Slim a few weeks ago. I was extremely pleased with the way the kit turned out, except for the Taylor spark plug wires. After I installed them, I noticed that both wires touch the bottom of the tank. I'm guessing due to the length and the fact that the boots aren't at an angle. See the picture below.

Would you replace or modify the wires to keep them off of the tank, or just leave it as is? I've ran this set up for maybe 200 miles and I haven't noticed any scuffing on the tank. I know there are SE plug wires that are shorter and have angled boots to keep the wires off of the tank. I really can't decided if I should leave these Taylor plug wires on or replace them to keep them off of the tank.

Opinions?

I think colored wires that do not touch your tank would look better.

I have considered the red SE wires, but I just wasn't sure how nice it would look.

That would bug the hell out of me. I vote new wires with angled boot to keep them off the tank. And if you go the colored route, I'd go blue or black; something that matches the tins.

Default As long as you asked

Over time the vibration and wind will cause scuffing and wear. If it were under the cowling of an airplane that would be unacceptable. The fact you asked means you know the answer, just looking for affirmation. Do it.

When I did my own coil reloc., I used a set off wires from a 2008 Rocker C.. they were shorter than those and did the job nicely.

Opinions are welcome..-t5325to.jpg
