Default stock pipes on heritage

I see a lot of guys changing the pipes on their stock bikes. I have the 07 heritage and the pipes sound fantastic and my buddy who has an 06 Street glide agrees it sounds much better for 07. I personally love my pipes ,and also I think they look better than most aftermarket ones. To each his own though , I'm not saying anything bad about anyones bikes here ,be sure of that Do you think some people change them out of a thought that they have to ?

My 05 Heritage Classic came with the Vance & Hines already installed. They only had about 100 miles on them and the previous owner even threw in the stock pipes for free. Not a bad deal.

That's whats cool about a Harley, make it what YOU like. The 96 cu in engine may have something to do with your '07 sounding better not sure. I personally never even heard my stock pipes but I like everything I own loud. Nice ride BTW.

I think people change them for a variety of reasons..
Personally i changed mine because the shotguns on a stock Fatboy sound like a moped and they block the passenger footpeg, I was constantly fighting my girlfriend to stop the shoe marks. Now I have V & H Pro Pipes... look amazingly better imho, run below the passengers foot, and maybe even added a little tiny bit of horsepower, and truly sound the way I feel my bike should sound.

I changed mine twice because I wanted more power and sound. Had se's but they were too quiet, so I put Rush 2.0's on and it's perfect for my taste. Like you said to each his own, if your happy with stock that's all that matters.

I replaced my stock set up with aftermarket slip-ons at about the 200 mile mark. Ordered them within 2 weeks of taking delivery. It had a decent note to it when deep into the throttle but wasvery quiet under most circumstances- may have something to do with CA emissions (European delivery). Really, changing the pipes wasn't high on the priority list buthearing themotor turning over the exhaust; not hearing my bike at all when riding with friends; the lady on the louder 883 started to sway my opinion. The clincher was my oldest boy (13) applying "peer" pressure, quote: " It doesn't sound like a Harley" and "your Roadster was louder". The Roadster was an old Ironhead.....it still had stock pipes after 16 years.

Now my two younger childrenrun away screaming with there hands over their hearswhen I fire it up in the garage....there are advantages!

Agreewith"to each his own". My Sportster was delivered with SEII's but after a while cruising were way too loud for me. Switched them to the harley scripted 49 state legals - much better. Will stay with stock myself on the FXSTC when I get it next year, there is a big push on exhaust noise reduction in the UK.

I had little choise on my '07 Night train. Between the lack of a tach and the vibrationless B engine, changing to Rush pipes was the only way I could tell if it was running.
