I used what I had, Med Metal blade 18TPI. Tape it off, mark it then cut. When done use some med/coarse to sand down any bumps and final shaping, then 320 for the finished edge. No one will ever know you cut it yourself.

I had the HD drivers backrest on my bike when I bought it and with that seat I was right on the line of the windshield to where I either had to slide down or seat straight up and this drove me crazy. After installing the Corbin seat I can know seat normal and see thru the shield. This took some getting use to but I do like to extra protection from road missles...lol... The corners are the only issue I have now. Still find myself wanting to look over it.

My 06 came with the standard windshield. I'm only 5'5" and it was so tall that no matter if I sat straight - still couldn't see over it - which is critical when it rains. So I had it cut down. The way I ride is when I am sitting absolutely straight, I can see over the top of the windshield. If I slouch a little I see through it. Or there is that option in summer to not have it at all.

I know this is a year old thread, but I thought it might help others...

On page 9 of the 2008 HD catalog it states the standard height windshield is designed for a rider about 5 feet 10 inches tall.&nbsp\\; It then states the low-profile is three inches shorter than standard and the tall is three inches taller than standard.

Keeping that in mind, I'm heading out to the dealership today to purchase the Nostalgic Low-Profile Smoked detachable windshield (57141-05) for my 07 Deluxe.&nbsp\\;

I'm 5 feet 6 inches tall and have sat on another's Deluxe with the low profile windshield.&nbsp\\; The top ends up being just below my line of sight, which HD also recommends on page 9.

I rode Philly PD's Fallen Heroes ride last Sunday.&nbsp\\; It ended up being a total of 240 miles from West Chester to Philly to Wildwood, NJ and back.&nbsp\\; I usually don't mind the wind, but I had never been on a ride that long before and got the snot beaten out of me.

There's a couple good websites that describe the cutting procedure in detail.&nbsp\\; Do a search here or on google and you'll find them easy enough.&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
Recall recently someone posted that they had cut there's but had&nbsp\\;a problem getting the color of the cut edges to match the uncut portion.&nbsp\\; Anyone else have that problem and find a fix for it.
I'm probably going to cut a couple inches from my 20.5 standard windshield.&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
I ordered a the low profile 17.5 one for my wife's Deluxe.&nbsp\\; I want to see what sort of wind effect&nbsp\\;I get from hers to see how much if any I want to cut off mine.&nbsp\\; That protection sure comes in handy in the cold weather.&nbsp\\; May decide to get the shorter one for summer and keep the tall one for cold weather riding.

Looking under / through the windshield in the rain is scary.

There are local plastic shops that will cut the glass for you.&nbsp\\; A local one here by me quoted me at somewhere around $25 to $45, can't remember.&nbsp\\; I know it was less than $50 and I was surprised at how cheap it was.&nbsp\\; Plus, they're experienced doing it as the HD dealer here recommends them all the time to people with similar windshield needs.
