Lightbulb Using horn cover for coil relocation?

Hi all, I recently saw 2011 fatee's bike and he had used a horn cover to house his coil after relocating it to the horn location (and getting rid of the horn). I like the look, so thought I would see if anyone else has done that sort of thing and can post some pictures. I'd like to get something on there I could engrave, or possible attach a challenge coin to.
Thanks!

I just did the coil relocation on my 87 Heritage
But, damned if I know how the guys are attaching the horn cover. Probably a simple thing to do, but pics would be great.

I opted to use the stock coil cover. Never was a fan of the cow bell.

Yeah, I should have clarified, he actually used an Arlen Ness round black horn cover with a timing cover on the face. Turned it upside down so the wire would go upwards. Looks pretty good. Wondering if anyone else has.

Yeah, the cowbell looks stupid no matter what is in it.

Here is a thread you may find interesting. Two approaches, one is a nicely crafted solution, the other is a chrome Alen Ness cover with a timer cover insert. The bracket that holds it to the horn mount was cut off and I mocked up with a zip tie, ... not so well crafted. The 103 timer cover has been changed out, but i havent had it to the local fabricator for alterations just yet, so its still not permanently mounted.

BluegrassPhil has a very nice solution here:

I like what you did, and it looks very similar to what I saw on the other bike. He might have stole the idea from you. I think I am leaning towards that. Did you have to do anything to mod the coil to fit in that cover? Is there any reason not to have the cover right side up and have the wires go up from underneath?

Thanks!

Default Horn cover for coil relocation

I did it to my PM scalloped horn cover:

I used the same mount that the stock horn cover mounted to. I just had to be creative with drilling holes and making clearance inside the cover. I also used 2 pieces of polycarbonate to make an adapter that holds the coil inside the horn cover and connects it to the horn mount itself.

That's a nice option sLow.

The coil is just a little too large to fit in the horn cover on my install. In hindsight, it may be possible to shave off some material from the coil in order to get it to fit. I ended up cutting off the horn cover bracket and attached it with zip ties to the coil. The coil is attached to DK Customs bracket. The cover is installed upside down because the bottom is open allowing the plug wires to attach, otherwise holes would need to be drilled. Hope this helps you Wabbit.
