Anyone know the part number of the seat "nut" that your seat screw screws into? It is mounted to the fender, basically just a threaded captive nut I guess.

It's "keyed" with a little notch, and held in place by one plastic spring clip.

And of course they want $8 shipping. Brutal. Anyone know of a free shipper to an APO?
You're kidding, right?
How much would the part be if you purchased it over the counter at a Harley dealer in Germany (or Canada for that matter)? US$11 (part + shipping) may not look so brutal after all.
My captive nut was a bit buggered up in the top area of the thread, after recovering from the sticker price at the Harley parts counter I went nuts ( pardon the pun) and got a new screw too...made my Deuce faster and has an adhesive Harley Davidson stick on decal to go in recessed center. People blow their horns and flash thumbs up now. Around $17 bucks...and the improvement in performance and ride made it worth twice that.
Get a buddy or family member to buy it, have it sent to APO. Or is that too
easy?
Trick to installing with tire on: use a wire or long wire tie. Put it through nut...feed it up between tire and fender, out through hole, turn to line up slot, put clip on. I learned that after .... After .... Putting two on two different bikes with really long needle nose pliers. Way easier.

Know how I know you have never shopped for parts at a European Harley dealer?
Seriously though, there isn't a lot of options close by.

Yes, I noticed that....my method is less expensive and intended for us of the unwashed masses that do not have an air shock and don't plan to buy one to get access to that pesky nut.
I had 2 Monroe air shocks on an old El Camino. Pretty expensive...seems like they were nearly $35 each. They leaked too, so if you are gonna stick your hand in there it might be good to block it up in case of a blowout.
