Primary Chain Stretch
Hi all,
New member here. Got a 99 FXSTS. Primary cover was leaking so drained the oil, removed cover to change seal. While open, wanted to adjust chain. Deflection was about an inch or more, too loose. Loosened the tensioner, but found it to be already maxed out. Bike has 40k miles on it. I dont think that any alterations have been done, sprockets etc. Do the chains stretch? Its a little loud, but not too bad. When plug was pulled, found a little bit of shavings on it, but no chips or anything to be concerned about. Would an automatic tensioner help? I dont want the chain breaking on me during a long ride or whatever. That would suck. Feedback please. Thanks
