Default Lowering my fatboy

Instead of hijacking the previous post, I figured I would start a new one. Here goes...

I would like to lower my fatboy maybe 2 inches in the rear. However I am concerned that it will:

1. Affect the comfort of the ride
2. Rub when riding 2 up

I weigh 235lbs, so what do you guys think?

Thinking of going with the HD Low Profile shocks or maybe the burnout cycles kit (cheaper). I would rather do the burnout cycles kit due to cost and ease of installation but am concerned mostly about riding 2up.

I just lowered my Standard 2" in the front and rear. For the back I used the progressive lowering kit with the stock shocks. Long story short, it rides like $#!+ now, but I still need to adjust the preload; just haven't gotten around to it yet. I am hoping it rides a little better if I stiffen it up a bit. BTW, I weigh about 170, and have a solo seat, so it's just me.

I used the HD Low Profile Shock Kit to lower my Fat Boy about an inch. Ride is still good, butchanging the shocks are a real PITA! They are just frickin' hard to get to! No bottoming out 2-up...I'm 175 and the wife is 160.

I can't speak about the other kits.

Good luck!

Steve

I have a burnout cycles kit...
went 1" and ride almost always 2up and it works great. definitely a difference in the ride (notice bumps a lot more and is a little bouncy) but I dont think i would go more than 1" it would be close to getting the fender on big high speed bumps.

Mine's stock height, and I scrape my boards sometimes trying to carve corners. Lower would mean it would happen lots. WHY?

Progressive makes a nice kit that allows 2" lowering. I will tell you this though, I had my bike slammed 2" in the rear and 1" in the front. I bought it this way I didn't do this myself. It looked pretty cool sitting on the curb but it wasn't alot of fun to ride. I was always dragging pipes and floorboards and it only got worse riding 2 up. This winter I put a set of 18" wheels on and raised the rear so it is only lowered about 1/4", it rides so much better that I will never lower another bike. I'm going to put the front back to the stock height as soon as I get the chance. If you like the twisties you will hate your bike in a lowered configuration.

I am thinking I will leave it stock height. Thanks for all the feedback. That's why I asked, I didn't want to get into all this, and then not like the end result.

thanks guys
