Default Fatboy Sissy bar backrest removal

Being a NOOB rider, with a 1st time bike, I'm not sure how to do much on it. This is one of my issues. I'd like to take off the backrest portion of my sissy bar. Looks like it would slide right out of the frame, and go right back in when you need it. There are 2 bolts on each side-upper and lower. The upper comes out without any problem. But the lower bolts are right near the fender. If I tried wrenching them out, they could scratch the paint. So I'm kind of at a loss on how to do this! Any suggestions?

You should be able to reach them with an open ended wrench. Just be careful with the paint, like you said. If you aren't comfortable doing so, you can take the side plates off which would require removing the two bolts on each side holding the fender up.

Take the sissy bar asssembly off your fender struts first. Then remove it from the side plates like your trying to do.

Yes. A T45 should fit fine.

You will find a lot of random Torx bolts on Harley's.
