Ooh, now that's a cool idea you don't see hardly ever. Maybe a British racing green instead of blue or red? Keeps it dark but still contrasts, adds a little 'pop' to it in the sunlight. Or a burnt orange even.

Hmm....food for thought.

My only regret is listening to the dealer, they were wrong on several occasions about parts that would/wouldn't fit my bike. Do your research, there are many parts that may not say they will fit your bike, but if you educate yourself on some of the similarities of the different models, you will find that a lot of things will work. If you have a question don't hesitate to ask, may want to try the search function first. There isn't much that these guys haven't done to their bikes. A wealth of knowledge and experience is at your finger tips. Thank you for your service and may you recover quickly.

Things I would have done differently:

- Less Willie G stuff (less is more - lesson learned)

I'm happy with everything else I've done. I have lots more to do, just doing it in stages so I don't lose interest in the bike.

Things I did well:

- Shotgun shocks
- CVO 2014 Wheels (still need to install though)

Buying a thunder header is like buying a stock dyna. Short shots are should come stock so 1200 sporty riders won't have to buy them. Things I'd do differently, install cams earlier. Install Timken bearings earlier, weld up the crank for gear drives. Install roller rockers.

2nd bike before vh competition series pipes

My first bike 59 magneto kick start sporty

3rd bike, chain drive, currently installing cams, fork brace 970's. Would buy a me880 for he rear, cuz I ride too damn much.

I think the biggest thing is buy the right bike that'll easily convert to the style you're chasing. It's probably the biggest and most expensive mistake when buying a bike and converting it to something that another model comes with most of those parts from factory

My biggest regret was not building my train the way I really wanted it the first time round, not the third. It all seemed like too big of a task, but man the money I would of saved if I just built what I really dug from the begining. If you really want to do something with your bike, just do it, because eventually you'll do it anyway at a greater cost lol

haven't had it long enough to regret anything yet. i did bite a bullet and cut my fender braces off sooner than i wanted to commit to it. the reason i did it seems to be working out, though i need new fender idea to gel eventually (i don't care what anyone says, no rear fender suuuucks) time will tell if i regret it or not. everything else was just bolt on/off, so except maybe a few lost bolts. i can reverse it if it bothers me that bad.

edit: since it's right above my post and seems to be haunting me, i think i regret seeing ink83's 230 tire conversion. i can't get anything else done until i see if i can pull that off or give up on it.

My biggest regret was listening to the dealer regarding my Stage 1 work.
Since I ordered the V&H BigShots and S&S Super air cleaner through them, they offered to install them for free - but then I let them talk me into a SEPST and a remap.
Big mistake.
The bike ran a -little- better, but decel pop was unbearable as was the extra heat - even after having specifically talked to the service manager about those exact issues beforehand and being assured "not to worry, it'll be fine".
..and of course they then offered to "fix" all that for another $350 and dyno time.
A FP3 fixed all that and more...
Lesson learned.
