Default wife's seat

The more comfortable my wife is, the more I get to ride.

I have a 2011 Deluxe on which I put a Heritage seat and bags. I saw The ButtyBuddy (still can't believe the name) and purchased one. This fits on top of the stock seat. First, it puts her up too high now and secondly, I have yet to secure it so that is rock solid. It is not the solution.

I know there is a Deluxe passenger seat upgrade from Harley but it is not as wide as the upgrade for the Heritage passenger seat. What I am wondering is if I went with the Heritage upgrade, I would assume the luggage rack would have to come off. Does this happen easy or will I have to remove the rear wheel to get to nuts under the fender or are they welded? I would like to be able to take it on off.

Mustang has seat but you have buy the rider's seat too.

Bottom line is I want to have a wide thick seat for the wife. Thanks in advance for all info and/or suggestions.

What's wrong with the Butty Buddy? She sits too high?

That's all my lady uses, and she loves it - and I've only got the lick-n-stick version.

Be careful; wider is not always better.

I bought the Softail touring pillion thinking it would be better for my Wife than the stock pillion.
The stock pillion is 12" wide and the touring pillion is 14" wide.

Turns out that the shape of the touring pillion is also wider at the thigh area and it rubs the inside of my Wife's thighs and she hates it.

I put the stock pillion back on which also has a gel pad inside.
She likes it much better.

I will add, my Wife has a relatively small butt so the 12" wide seat fits her well.

As far as your Wife sitting taller; is her complaint the wind?
If so perhaps a taller windshield would help that.

I put on a 21" Klock Werks shield whenever we are out on a long ride.
The Klock Werks deflects air over my Wife's head.

Take your stock seat or the butt buddy or whatever its called to an upholsterer. If you do you can get the padding you want, built how you want it and covered with what you want it covered with. If you go that route I strongly suggest the Gelfoam, not gel inserts. It's also no more expensive and you get what you want and need.

This one's definately wider and thicker. May be more comfortable for you as well. Might hoist her up too high though . . .

I have the ButtyBuddy that goes over the stock seat. The two together put her up too high. Plus the "fingers" that grip the seat sit on top of the luggage rack and will slip off sometimes as she adjusts her position. There are rubber straps w/ hooks but really didn't find a good place to hook on. Not much room to work unless I take off bags and then put them back after seat install. It supposed to go on in seconds. I guess I could deal with this, if she liked the riding position, but that is not the case.

I have a Heritage rider's seat and I think I will solve the passenger seat problem with the HD Heritage Touring passenger seat. This leads to the question, is the stock Deluxe luggage rack a pain to R & R?

I just put the stock pillion back on that has a gel pad insert.
The Wife and I are going on a long poker run this Saturday so after that my Wife will decide which seat she prefers.

If she chooses the stock pillion, I'll be willing to deal on the touring pillion.
Below is a link to the touring pillion that I have.
My desktop picture shows the touring pillion on my Heritage.

We got the Butty Buddy right after we got the bike. My wife said something had to be done or she wasn't going to ride...and she loves riding. She said the stock seat was like riding a 2x4. But we've been on 10 hour rides and she's never complained.

As for it raising her up...yeah that 1" is a lot to deal with!
