Default Fuel pump assembly

2001 Softail - sitting for over a year. Cranked but wouldn't start. Removed inside tank parts - the whole fuel pump assembly and it looks awful - corroded and yucky! What is the best solution to clean these parts? Can I soak the whole thing in something? Are some of the parts going to be usable Hopefully)?Thank you,

First can you tell us if the pump cycles? Do you have spark going to your spark plugs? If the pump did not cycle, it could be the pump or the relay. The reason I am asking these is because you might put a lot of effort into cleaning the pump and it might not be a working pump. I could not tell you how to clean the pump, sorry!!!!!

Same thing happened to a buddy of mine. He left his BMW set of over a year and the fuel turned into what looked like molasses. We tried every chemical we could find including Seafoam to dissolve the sludge. He eventually ended up replacing the Pump, Regulator and Filter.
