Default 2002 FXST cuts out

I have a 2002 fxst that about once or twice a year will cut out while riding. It is carb with security system. It is like the ignition system turns on and of. It usually happens after getting on it kind of hard or highway speed. It will straighten up usually after about 5 or 10 minutes. It doesn't happen often enough to take it to the dealer, they would never get it to act up. When it happened this week I was riding down the highway and it started cutting in and out. Stalled would start, could rev but it didn't seem to have full power. Could ride 50 feet or so and would cut out. Finally got of the road and set for about 5 minutes. Clicked the run switch back and forth a few times fired up and has run fine since.
If anyone has had this problem or has any ideas I would appreciate it.
Thanks
