I've been absent on here for the last few days due to the really nice weather. Couldn't pass up those great riding days. Last week I bought my wife a 2007 1200 Low and she practiced in a parking lot near the house until she got more used to the bike. It's quite a bit different from the 125cc Suzuki she learned to ride on in the MSF class. She had her first mishap while trying to make a turn in the parking lot. She was going to fast to walk the bike and too slow to have her feet on the pegs and just fell over. She was a trooper, though, and got back on the bike and continued practicing. I told her she didn't mess up anything that wasn't going to be taken off and customized anyway (mirror, clutch lever, and rear turn signal). No paint damage. By the end of the week, she was riding around the neighborhood, and this weekend we went a couple 20-50 mile rides. She did really good. Yesterday, she fell over again at a stop sign and scratched the same pieces she did on the other side. I told her it's not a problem because the turn signals and mirrors are sold in pairs. She had pulled something in her leg when she fell over the first time and when she got to that stop sign and put her foot down, it hurt her and she toppled over. But again, she got back on the bike and finished the 10 mile ride home. We're gonna put a set of crashbars on it now just to be on the safe side. Sorry to go on and on, but I'm just proud of how quickly she picked things up. She had never ridden a motorcycle or even used a clutch of any kind before last week. It's much more fun having her ride on a bike beside me rather than on the seat behind me.
The good: I purchased a HD tall windshield off of ebay for $175 vs. retail of $335. Installed for a long trip this weekend.
The bad: I got a tremendous amount of helmet buffeting. I'm 6' 4" and look right over the top.
The ugly: Dang this windshield ugliesup my bike! [X(]
I'm not trying to convert my bike into a bagger but I'm trying to make it more civil for my wife when we travel any lengthy distances. I was hoping that the quick release windshield would accomplish part of this for us?! [:@]I'm close to dropping any ideas of splitting the fence and having a two up rider for my wife vs. a pro street look I'm trying to achieve like several inspiring bike in this group. Sorry for the rant. [&o]

Congrats to the Mrs. on the new bike. You've got one tough
cookie there. My wife was too scared to even ride on the back
so I converted it to a one seater. Be safe Mrs. L2R and enjoy
the new bike.
