Went with a Lindby bar, I like it. Feels great to stretch out. What do you think?

Hey guys. A while back someone posted about how they mounted a backrest directly to the seat. Could whoever it was post that information again? Pardon my laziness, but I just figured it would be easier to ask for the info again, rather search through 65 pages of posts. I just picked up a backrest and when I went to install it I noticed the threaded studs don't line up with the holes in the fender. I'm thinking that's probably due to the hardware being powdercoated and possibly the thickness of the paint on my bike. I'm going to take the hardware back to the dealership tomorrow to see if maybe another piece would match up better. I definitely don't plan on leaving the backrest on the bike, so I don't want to just stick bolts under the fender and mount the backrest to the fender that way. I only want to put it on for when my wife wants to ride on the back of mine, rather than ride her own bike. That's also the only time the more comfortable stock seat would go on. So if I could just mount the backrest to the stock seat, that would be perfect. Thank in advance.

Lipper,
I've never seen them on a Deuce before, so I was unsure of how it would look. So I have to say that your the first person I've seen with the Lindby setup on a Deuce, and it looks pretty nice. Glad you like them. If I wasn't so vertically challenged, I would possibly do the same thing.

Alright, I was bored and decided to look through the posts. I saw it was Deuce Bigalow that did that mod for the backrest. Did you have to drill through the seat frame to do that, or did that Mustang seat already have holes there for some reason? I don't know how comforable I am screwing with the seat. I'm the guy that would screw everything up. Do you think it's something that an upholerster could do for me? You wouldn't by chance still have that seat and want to sell it, would you?

I just sold the seat and passenger pad, I drilled the holes in the seat pan myself.
basically, I held the sissy bar up to the passenger pad and marked where I wanted the holes, then I drilled out the pop rivets that hold the seat cover and foam onto the seat pan and drilled my holes, I bolted the sissy bar onto the seat pan and added some spacers to make the sissy bar sit level and reinstalled the seat cover and foam.

looks worse than it really is, it's a pretty easy mod..[8D]

Did you have to add a metal plate or anything on top of the seat pan, or did you just use bolts and washers?
