Did you then route the cable down the right side of the steering head or the left side? Where did you put the cable clamps?

Deuce,

I did ask about the clutch cable. Like how you routed it (from what I see in the pictures it went down thru the hole in the upper clamp). Like the clean look. Now if only we didn't have to have those cables to clutter the front end.
here's a pic, i did route it through the hole in the upper triple. as for cables, i did those inside the bars...

Need your advise guys

I've been toying with the idea of doing a tank lift. So
the tank linewould better follow with the seat line. Also,
I just purchased a Dakotaspeedo/tach guage, which is
all black and lights up when power is turned on. I'm
thinking, instead of lifting my tank, I'm going to paint
or powder coat my tank dash black. If you look at my sig
pic, the tank dash being black would flow alot better
with my seat and from the top, everything would be back
except my digital speedo/tach guage would light up.

What do you guys think??

Crazy, thanks for the advice. Another question though, I've heard the lowering shocks give a better ride then just changing the bolts, do you know if there is any truth to this? As I said before, I'd rather do it right.

As for your bike, I'm an automotive artist by trade, and work for a major hot rod company that designs some world renowned cars and even some bikes. And, I gotta tell ya, your bike looks good as it sits to me, however, it would make a huge difference if you were to move the front of the tank up a little. As for the console, I have to wonder if removing just the chrome there would throw it off, I think I would leave that. But, in the end, it's your bike, it's whatever you think would look cool. Like I said before, I think you've done an awesome job, and sometimes you just gotta know when to stop.

Hey Grumpez
You're right. Changing your shocks out all together is
MUCH better than keeping the stock ones and adding
a stem kit. The ultimate would be air ride. The thing with
my tank lift is that it will touch my cables if I lift it even
just an inch. What if it were black and I added a touch
of chrome with a dash insert along with the chrome
ignition switch, gas cap and fuel guage?

I gotta agree with Grump on this, Crazy. I would do asmall tank lift and keep the chrome console. I think the chrome console is part of what makes everything flow so well on the deuce. Maybe if you had done a strutless rear fender then painting the console would make better sense, but with the chrome struts back there it seems that it will match better to keep the console chrome.

CC,
In my opinion, if you're going to do anything to the tank of that awesome bike of yours, I would just paint or powdercoat the dash. I think that for a couple reasons. The way the tank sits now stretches the bike out more. Lifting the tank would give a shorter appearance. I think the Deuce is supposed to have a stretched look, and the tank helps with that effect. Also, painting or powdercoating the dash would make the dash kinda disappear. I think it would be easier on the eyes when looking at the bike from a profile shot. All you would see is black from the side and the lines would follow your seat. I think that would give you the effect you're looking for, but stillallow you to keep the stretched look the Deuce already has. If you painted or powdercoated it and it still doesn't give you the look you're wanting, you could always lift the tank later. You would just have a more custom looking bike, because just about every Harley out there has a chrome dash. If you decide to powdercoat, I highly recommend the guy I used that did my front end for me. I'm thinking about having my dash powdercoated at some point as well, along with some other pieces, and I'll be sending my stuff back to the same place. Well, that's my opinion. I think your bike looksgreat now the way it is. But riding a bike that looks the same way for a long time can make the gears start turning indifferent ways after a while. When I had my Deuce, I was already thinking about changing out all kinds of stuff. I'll keep checkin' in to see what you decided to do.
