Hi.... hoping someone here can help with some great suggestions..... I'm blowing the last two weeks of March off and getting the Hell outta Maine..... I was going to fly to the Southwest and rent a bike but I just cut a deal on a new 2015 FLHTKL, so Ive decided to stuff her in the trailer and drive far enough south to ride for a couple weeks...probably leave from the Charlotte NC area weather dependent... then thinking heading South to FL and then West out along the gulf coast, eventually back to the trailer
So... I would greatly appreciate any suggestions from you guys that ride down there.... good routes, places to stay, things not to miss, good biker bars, etc...... I promise not to bring the 7 feet of snow I have up here with me!!
Looks like you are a week behind the Bike week in Daytona. But the weather down here in the deep south has to get better soon Damn!!! Going to be in the 70's here in Louisiana next week. 49 for the high on Saturday here.
Pensacola to Nawlins is always fun
I'm in MN so I feel your pain...great idea getting to riding climate for a couple weeks. My 15 FLHTKL is sitting in the garage with 1 mile on it.
If you do get it out on the road, please post your thoughts on the new bike! Can't wait to ride mine!
Yeah...I've had a 100+ inches of snow.... been a rough Winter... my new bike, like yours, is in the shop on the lift with 6 miles on it.... did the basics to get it rideable.... Header, mufflers, air intake, programmer, grips, mirrors and floorboard brackets..... I'm hoping to get 2-3 thousand miles on it on this trip.... I'm going to have to have a service done on the road and that's gonna kill me!

Thanks...yeah it looks like route 98 might be a good ride out the panhandle an over to New Orleans......... any weather down there will be better than here... had 15 below zero before the wind yesterday morning!!!
It's a long ride down, but best single ride in all of Florida is from Homestead/Florida City to Key West. If you're just going to do North Florida then doing 98 from Panacea through Panama City is a nice coastal run. If you do get to Panama City/Panama City Beach on a weekend just a short distance north is "The Outpost" in Freeport. Great biker hangout owned and run by a Viet Nam vet.
If you're into motorcycle history one of the largest and most famous places is the Barber's Museum in Birmingham AL.
Larry.. thanks for the info! Much appreciated... I did the Fort Meyers to Key West in early December.... this time I'm thinking more up the West coast and out the panhandle.... I'll probably dropin from the East side and stop in Winter Haven to see relatives.. then anywhere from there!
Fly Low... thanks for the invite...looks like I may get over that way weather depending.... what's your weather usually like the last two weeks of March? Thanks much! Maybe you could jump in and ride along!! Dave

Other than squal lines because we are changing over from winter to spring we should have pretty good weather. I think most of the fronts will be fast moving if we have them. It is to start off in the morning cloudy around 37F noon 50F, then 5pm it's to be 57F.
I am suppose to ride 60 miles to a crawfish boil serving the crawfish leaving home at 1pm meeting up with an independent shop owner and his wife at 2pm then showing up around 3pm at the boil. So it's do able by next week
I leave for Daytona on March 11th, return March 16th. Should be about 6 of us going down.
