Im thinking about doing Daytona in October and then heading on down to Key West for a couple of days. Anybody got info on a good place to stay thats reasonable? Any info appreciated.

anything under $200 is considered a deal especially if you get breakfast.

look for opinions / descriptions in places like Fodor's and Frommers on the internet
*once in key west consider one of the sunset sail cruises: there is one that includes w/ drinks(beer+soda) ,conch chowder , canon and release of birds ---all the boats take-off from the same location near caroline and william streets so make reservations when in key west.
*there is a liitle shack/stand on caroline and william street--faces street--it is probably the least expensive and freshest seafood in town...looks like it was built out of found stuff and thrown together...it is in the parking lot right on the corner...menu depends on what he has that day..very simple grilled fish/salad/fries on a paper plate and plastic fork and knife..bottle of beer/soda/water.. no a/c open air..you sit on a piece of wood and can park bike about 10 feet away on street at coin meter.
the place is called: BOâs Fish Wagon 801 Caroline Street, Key West, Florida
BUT there is no name written on it...most you will find is a hand written sign.
a little more information :the ride to key west is one of the best...use card sound road (toll road in the beginning of keys) and you will be able to avoid the worst and most dangerous part of the keys($1) and about 20 extra minutes...you can have a rest stop at downtown alabama jacks(a hole in the wall) right before the ($1) toll ..i-95 is real bad..avoid at all cost during rush hours (7am to 8pm)..information for miami !! 3 cars WILL cross on RED..stop signs are only suggestions...and never expect someone to use their blinkers...by the way do not use yours either as it is a signal for cars behind you to speed up...if a car is near you, expect them to stop for no reason, turn right from a left lane and going the wrong direction is not rare... extra caution with the turnpike, assume the person behind you will not stop..carry plenty of change or better yet purchase a sun pass transponder....reminder that south florida is an international location, many out of towners, many new comers to the U.S.A and many different combinations of drivers..young, old, lost etc.
Might want to consider staying in Marathon. It's about 50 miles from Key West butless crowded. Rates drop in Sept. Several nice places to stay. "im" isn't kiddin' about the idiot cagers down there either. The closer you get to Miami, the worse they get. Have a safe trip and Enjoy!
I stay at the Best Western Hibiscus. It is a block from Duvall Street and reasonable. It is an older hotel that has been remodeled. I found them to be biker friendly. From past trips you may want to go on the front end of Biketoberfest instead of the backend. Unless they have changed the dates, Fantasy Fest is toward the end of Biketoberfest. Rates and the crazies increase.
Best results I ever had staying in Key West was using Priceline.com to get a room. $65 a night at a Wyndham resort. us 27 down to the keys is a good ride, you can skip all the major highways and take a back road that goes by a casino and brings you out right at US 1 heading down to the keys.

I second that. Pickup US 27 on the south side of Lake Okeechobee. It will take you west of Miami and Ft. Lauderdale along the edge of the Everglades. It's well worth going a bit out of the way to avoid the insane traffic.
Thewife and I stayed at Curry House Bed and Breakfast and it was great. It's just a few blocks from Duvall and really close to the Seaport where you can take Seabago out for snorkling on the reef. About $115 a night for a room with a bathroom. Some rooms have a shared bathroom but that's the price you pay for a quaint b&b.
