Default Anybody have input on 11W?

Elsewhere in this forum I asked for advice/comments on my probable route from Houston to Southern WV...with little response I might add much to my chagrin...I was pretty proud of my route avoiding the big roads THEN I made the mistake of using Google map for the first time and it changed itsomewhat, mostly in eastern half of TN. I hope to get some advice/observations about 11W from Crossville TN to Kingspoint. I had originally planned on using 80 across KY but this 11W whacks a lot of miles off so if it is easy riding with something to look at/hills/dales etc I will rebop my route to include it. The Google map site is IMHO way better than Mapquest or Yahoo, if you haven't tried it you might like it. No, I don't own any Google stock. Thanks John

11W is a good, not great road. The only bad part would be coming through Knoxville. It turns into Kingston Pike and that's no fun in a car let alone on a bike. It would best to hit I-40 just as youget toKnoxville and exit offat the Rutledge Pike (11-W)exit on the other side of Knoxville. IMO From there it's smoth sailing again. Toot your horn as you go through Rutledge, and watch out for that one trafic light. Let me know if you have questions.

Yup, 40 is bad enough around Knoxville....looks like best bet is 640? loop around north side

Yep, I agree with I AM JERRY. 70/11 from Crossville to Knoxville is a good ride. I would also take I-40 to 640 to I-40 through Knoxville, exiting at the Rutledge Pike exit (Exit No 392). I'm recommending 640 due to construction on I-40 in downtown Knoxville. When 640 ties into I-40 on the east side of Knoxville, you will have to take I-40 back west (toward Knoxville) about a mile to pick up the Rutledge Pike exit. 11W to Kingsport is a good ride. Note that there is also a 11E parallel and south of 11W...do not let this confuse you. Ride Safe.
