Default myrtle beach bike week attendance

Just curious but does the attendance seem down this year from previous years?

I was there first weekend and no question the attendance is down. Ask the vendors and all the shows have been down. Worse yet for the vendors is sales are down and travel costs are up.

The ralleys are great for exposure but you better sell everything including the kitchen sink because they keep going up on thespaces to set up on. It was going to costme $4k just to setup at Colonial Mall then you have to add gas, hotel and eatsplus paying the crews road trip cost and allthatadded up would have easlily top$10k and then you start thinking is it worth going....? The spots at the HD dealer and Hard Rock park were a lot more exspensive than that. I hate to say it but they are going to end up killing the bike weeks because of all the greed but its like everything else

With that being said People think that they are going to get a big price brake on products. But they do not realize what it cost the vender's to be there and get there. Daytona was down also . If it was not inmy back yard and I was looking for some things that I wanted to see and touch before i bought i would have not gone there.

I agree. The sales do not justify the costs. I am done with them. As far as learning about new products, more was spent on chrome from other venders. Barefoot landing had lots of people but no sales to justify.

Leesburg did not have anything motorcycle relates in so far as actual real motorcycle parts other than a 10X10 JP cycle & some guy re-Upholstering seats. LED boogie lights do not count. Plenty of T-Shirts, gloves, food, and unnecessary stuff but why just not stay home & go to the mall? Just my 2 coppers.

Went down from Richmond first weekend. Went downt to Inlet Mall on southside on my way to Murrells Inlet. One quarter of the vendors that they've had in years past and the ones that were there were really pizzed that the promoter didn't tell them about poor showing ahead of time.

I don't know if it was the prediction of bad weather( which turned out pretty good except early Sunday a.m.) gas prices, the Darlington race, but numbers were definately down. Broadway @ the Beach looked like a ghost town Fri nite

Still had a great time....my liver probably hates me about now...

Look I am a promoter (Own Home and Garden Shows)and I can understand the increased prices during tough times ticking off vendors but how the hell is a promoter supposed to know if the attendance is going to be down? I thought the vendor at Colonial Mall that told me his space was $6500 was blowing some smoke. I can't believe they are getting that much. Especially for out side spavce with no weather or climate control costs like you would have in a convention hall.

let me clarify .........they were pizzed that the site promoter didn't tell them that instead of45-55 VENDORS at the site only 10 or less were there. It looked like a big empty field , folks were gettin off their rides walking over to the edge and turning around and leaving. This site isin the middleone of the busiest areas between SBB 4Corners and SBB Original and usually has a lot of foot traffic. Hell they had more vendors across the street from SBBOriginal than the Mall had.

I went down for the day last Saturday. Yes it was slow but it was nice because of much less traffic than usual. I only spent a few hours there. I left GA at 9am and was back by 9pm. It was my first real ride since I got back home. I got a lot of sun on the nose and arms and a case of monket butt from riding all day on my vinyl bare bones [:'(]. I should of put on the leather brawler seat I have. It definately breaths a lot better plus it has a little more cushion for my aging ****. Anyway, it was enjoyable. Not as many vendors as years past. I did get to see all the OCC production rides and sit on them. The builder there was really friendly (old Army guy) and he showed me his personal ride. I got a rally shirt for my brother to sent back to PA. All in all, worth it to me. But if you were coming a ways maybe not.

On another note, I met a few guys and gals from Ohio, West Virginny, Texas, Miss, and PA that rode all the way down. They did have some trail vehicles but nontheless they rode 'em. Funny because my rideEast onI-20 I came across so many trailered and pick-up bedded bikes from GA and SC it made my say WTF? If you are one of the lucky guys to live down here in the great climate, ride the damn thing. I've only lived in the South a few years. I am a Yankee through and through so I understand the crappy weather we get up there. I commend those that rode from places aforementioned. With the fuel prices being the way they are I expected the majority of folks to actually ride to save fuel costs. Go figure?

Let me think how many lady biker thongs I would have to sell just to break even. $9.95 @ 50% margin would be 2,000 pair just to get out of the red and back to go. Notta...............
