If you have been riding the Parkway this year then you probably found out about this the hard way like I did. If you're going to ride it then you need to know!! There are several bridges on the Parkway that cross small streams where the pavement has dropped below the top of the concrete bridge frame. This has caused a 2 to 4 inch high lip on both sides of the bridge. It seems that all of them are in shady areas and are very hard to see. I hit one yesterday running about 40 mph and the jar was so hard it almost threw me off the bike. It did trip the sensor that shuts the engine down to idle and takes away the throttle. After looking everythig over to make sure nothing broke, I did an ignition reset and managed to limp to the nearest dealer to get it fixed. That brings up another thread on REAL GOOD DEALER in the touring section.
Let me guess...Ghost Town Harley Davidson? Those guys are great. I drove 5 hrs from Raleigh NC to Waynesville NC to buy my Road Glide from them. Excellent service.

I rode the whole parkway in June and the northern section of the NC side was really rough. But my worst experience was on Mt Michell with the fog. Overall a great ride.
CrossRoads in North Wilkesboro-- these guys will drop what they're doing to get you back on the road.
+1 on Crossroads. I took my bike up there a few weeks ago to have the seal on my front break master cylinder replaced , I knew my factory warranty had ran out and my extended serv. plan had a $50 deductable but they didn't charge me 1 cent for the parts and about 30 minutes of labor! BTW the bumps have always been there for as long as I can remember!
Heard great things about crossroads, we have guys that travel up there from Cherokee to get their bikes worked on. Ghost Town HD has always treated me well on sales...I usually do my own work though.
