Smokey Mountain Trip
The Dragon is closed from the Tennessee side. It is still open from North Carolina. The slide is at the bottom next to the lake on 129. You can still ride the dragon from Carolina, turn around and ride back. Cades Cove Loop road is closed til about the middle of May for repaving, no scedule given for completion. It takes as long as it takes plus goverment delays on funding!?! There was a slide recently on the Little River Road between Townsend (Cades Cove end) and Gatlinburg again no scedule for repairs...funding and goverment land again?? This is usually the prefered way to get to Gatlinburg for local bikes by way of 321 and Townsend. It doesn't have the traffic jams Pigeon Forge does. Wears Valley from Townsend to Pigeon Forge is the only way now. Best bet...Plan on going to the North Carolina side of the Smokies. Lots of rain and more freezing weather than usually have caused a lot of slides in Tenn Smokies this year. Be careful and enjoy your ride.
All of the above....also try US421 east of Bristol. They call it the snake. Good ride. Watch out for I40 west of Asheville, closed for rock slides. Some portions of the Blue Ridge Parkway will still be closed, slides and down trees. It was a bad winter. You can still have plenty of fun. Also don't forget northeast GA and southwest NC, some great riding.
What is your route? And....LOL for the name, I agree 100%. I spent 1400 last time I was there for 2008...And if they do not want our business....
