Your welcome and if you haven't yet make the ride. I would recommend though to avoid the place through
the summer months. When we went just last week it was already topping the 100 degree marker on a few days.
Probably Sept, is the next window of opportunity. But everyone I talk to says go before May or expect to
start frying some, after May you'll fry. Temps get into the 100's a lot after May into June.
Glad You had a good time. It's one of My favorite trips. You didn't get in trouble in the ghost town did ya?
Naw I didn't even make it over there, Just rode into town, got rooms got something to eat and did a little quiet
star gazing before turning in for the night. Spent all the next day in Big Bend, and back to the room.
Headed out early the next day for a ride up to Alpine, Checked out the area, rode up to the observatory in
Fort Davis, and back that evening for the Martha light show....then the next morning headed out back home.
Wish I has an extra day or two to explore more, but time was a limit. Maybe next time though.
It was great though for sure!
Thumper, did you ride FM 170, the river road from Presidio to Terlingua? One of the top 2 or 3 rides in the state. And you are right about it being hot down there...if someone wants to go, better do it in the next 2-4 weeks or its gonna be too hot. Was down there Memorial day weekend last year and temp was around 114 Sat and Sun at Rio Grande Village

Oh yeah great road, I see your living in Monahans, where the speed limit goes 80mph!
I cannot imagine anyone riding down there around July August...be some fried brains for sure!
Thumper....great pics. We left March 5 (25degrees) and rode to Big Bend from Ft. Hood. Spent 3 days riding the park and all the roads in the area then rode back on day 5. Awesome ride and can't wait to do it again. Took about 400 photos between the 4 of us. Only one I resized was my sig pic. Recognize the location?....took it on the road out of Santa Elena canyon. That was March 7 and it was 92 degrees at the river. We stayed in Marathon at the motel/RV park....great value and good eats.
