Possible future ride for PHX crew
If I'm reading it correctly, instead of 355th ave to Wickenburg, from Tonopah, take Vulture Mine Trail, don't wait till you're in Wickenburg to pick it up. That is a great section of road. (Unless 355th and Vulture mine are the same thing and I don't know it.)
You also need to do this one when the weather is cooled off some. And don't just post it for PHX... sometimes we get others to join us, and don't want them to feel excluded.
(was that more than 2 cents worth??)
ps...we once bounced around the idea of doing some shorter rides so people like me can get some riding time!!!

The shorter (200-300 mile ranges) are better for me, as well as Dave actually. We both have too much crap going on to be taking too many all day rides! I'll admit for me during the rest of the year Saturdays are tough, I'm too big a college football fan! (I was just in Colorado Springs last weekend for the Air Force - Navy game!)
I'm fine with almost any type of ride though. Straight, twisties, it's all good as long as I have the wind in my air and my tunes crankin!

Those who want to go the full distance can. Those that only want to do part of the ride can break off and return home at most any point since it circles the valley. The people that live on the west side would not have to ride all the way back from the east side if they didn't want to.
Matt, I liked the original ride by Roosevelt Lake into Globe with just the change to Old Highway 80.
Just my personal preference, but when I go on a day ride I like to dedicate the whole day to riding. We always have a good time in places like Wickenburg, Jakes Corner, and Globe.

I tend to agree with you on the Roosevelt lake portion. The cool thing about this ride is that people can start and stop where they want and just do a portion if they wish.
Are the selected paths good and ridable? Like I said, I am unfamiliar with some of the roads. Any alternate paths that would be better? Any more twisties to be had?
Also, how about starting a list of must-do stops. This should include food stops as well as beverage stops. I will start the list with Jake's Corner.
Sorry to call your neighborhood boring... but I would never call you boring!!

Just last week, we rode straight out 60, straight down to Florence, straight to Coolidge....etc. You must remember, I have been learning from JOE!! We do as many twisties as possible, so riding in a straight line for any length of time bores the bajeebies out of me!!

But that's just me, and I'd still go along and have fun and not complain... even if the ride does include that trip down from Payson! AGAIN!

They are working on the road just past Superior and it caused a pretty bad backup. Both directions of traffic had to alternate using the same lane and you end up behind a bunch of trucks going uphill once you get through it.
We'll need to either plan for the delay or wait until they are finished with the road. It made me 5 minutes late for work.

If I can get Deb to go we'll probably just do the western section.
Possible stops list now:
Jake's corner
beer and burger shop in Arlington (name??)
Anyone know a good breakfast spot?
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
If others are up for it, we could do the ride Saturday, the 11th then the Zoo Ride on Sunday the 12th.
We could also hold off and do it on Saturday the 18th - which is a normal ride weekend for the group. That would be "Az. Ride #12".
Gather feedback here, then post the ride in a new thread with the details.
