2013 Corpus Rally feedback
first off it was a $50 dollar weekend pass, $7 dollar beers, $5 parking per BIKE!! (we where in a large group and wanted to park together, they had free parking on the street if you where lucky enough to find a spot) $20 extra to see the headliners perform (this was not included on the $50 dollar weekend pass). parking was horrible and had to walk REALLY far just to get in.
once in doors nothing but shopping which is typical from vendors.. but to pay $50 bucks to shop and only shop?? I think I counted 10 custom bikes in there which I saw them all at the ROT rally.. money is expected to be spent when attending a rally, but to me it seemed like I wasted a bunch of money on this particular rally..
would I go back to corpus OF COURSE would I spend a cent on this rally again to attend the convention center absolutely NOT!!!!
the dealership had lots of cool things going on that was actually bike related, burn out shows, bike shows, and of course the HD shopping. live music, bikini competitions, parking was nice.. and all FREE other then the shopping part but hey the dealership wasn't charging $50 bucks or even $20 bucks for a day pass just to enter the dealership haha..
I really want others to voice there opinion mainly on the convention center part of this rally. I don't see how or why anyone who attended this years rally would pay for a weekend pass or day pass for that matter again, unless i missed something, we had 30 bikes in our group and we all felt the same way..
the trip was awesome but for it being a "biker rally" corpus convention center really dropped the ball and i bet the vendors lost a ton of money too..
i mean my wife and i spent $50 each to get in, bike park $5 bucks
so $105 so far just to get in the door.. found the first bar $7 each for a beer
$119 total so far haha.. now lets browse the shops. after spending $119 as a couple its kind of hard to start wanting to get into the "shopping mood".. nothing inside was entertaining (ok maybe the adult store in the back) all in all we stayed in there for maybe 2 hours tops.. and left with NO intentions to return..
next time we will stick to the local bars, HD dealership and port A for the corpus run..
nothing special about this rally everyone we ran into at the local bars near by where all complaining about the same thing the convention center was a HUGE waste of time and money.. i feel bad for those VIP ticket holders spending $300 a pop for those tickets haha..
i hope if we all voice our opinion and they do some serious changes for this rally because I do enjoy going to corpus at least once a year on my bike..
wonder how many people would pay over $100 to shop at an outlet mall or hell $100 dollars to shop on tax free weekend.. the answer is NOBODY.. which is how i felt at this rally.. spent over $100 to have the ability to shop the vendor booths.. or get a tattoo or going into a adult store.. come on guys lets get real none of us would do that knowing what we where getting into
had really high hopes for corpus but to be honest there are plenty of other things to do in corpus I just hope I help others next year when it comes time to register for the event (DO NOT DO IT HAHA) just go to corpus and have fun avoid the convention center!!) and hopefully people will speak up and share there experience and they really rethink how they are running the convention center in corpus.
The VIP experience you had in South Padre sounds well worth it hope thats how everyone felt this past weekend in corpus that dropped the $300 on it

Joan Jett; aside from her 3 hit songs from the 1940s the rest of it all sounded the same, boring. And the half naked, drugged out dude that was dancing in front of us almost got his clock cleaned by me.
Quiet Riot; sounded like a drug inflicted, worn out band. They lacked energy so it was like sitting out back of Lukenbach listening to some local strum on a guitar under the oak tree.
And then came Sunday; having to head back to Houston knowing I was going to get rained on, I thought "no big deal". It was 85+ outside so I welcomed it. What I didn't expect was a cow pissing on a flat rock from 5 minutes out of corpus to the time I hit barket cypress and 290. Most miserable fricking ride of my life yet. It was so bad that guys were pulled over on 77 standing in the rain trying to wait it out. No shelter anywhere around. I just kept riding, plugging along @ 30 - 35MPH. 7 fricking hours to get home. The kinda ride they don't make enough rain gear for. That SUCKED!
The only thing I can say about this rally in a positive manner is simply this; It was it's first year being moved up from South Padre. I only expect it to get better. Since my son is there @ A&M, I'll go back but probably not to the rally if it's at the convention center again. I'll just go hang out with some good folks at Corpus HD.
