Default Fuel Light

Hey all new to the forums. Had a simple question. When i first bought my Iron 2013 i had a fuel light that came on when i was getting low. well the light has not been coming on lately so i took it to my dealer to have them fix it. they sall me today and said that these bikes have no sensor for fuel.

So my question is, am i retarded or are they messing with me? cause i know there is a light.

thank you
xx

There is a low level fuel light. Should come on when you turn on the ignition before starting it. Service manager has his head up his a $$.

All Sportsters (2007 and later) have a low fuel light and sensor (sending unit) in the gas tank. It became standard when the Sporty was switched from carbs to EFI in 2007.

I gave you some erroneous information. The fuel level light will display only while performing the diagnostic check, not just turning the key.

Harley has a new "Fuel Level Sensor" that is meant to be used with the new fancy digital speedos they came out with. The speedo/sensor combo track your fuel better than the stock fuel sender unit in our Sportys, or at least its supposed to. That may have been what that dealer was talking about but you wouldn't need the sensor unless you were adding the digital speedo to. If that's not what they were talking about then I would agree with Guzzi and say that they have their heads up some body parts.

My Iron 883 light comes on when it is about 2 gallons low on the 3.3 gallon tank.

Oh wow, so for your bike you still have 60+ miles?

I haven't done it yet, if I get a warm night off I'll just ride the city until I get the light, then do the math for my bike.

The fuel light on my 2014 superlow with a 4.5 gallon tank comes on when there is 1.8 gallons left. I wish it would wait till at least there is 1 gallon but it is what it is.

I spoke to the dealer about it and they brushed it off.
